Innovation in short food supply chains: that’s what we have developed in our project in the French town of Buzançais. The solution of automated and refrigerated lockers gives a 24-hour access to fresh local products that can be ordered in advance. Thus, we have provided new consumption opportunities for consumers who cannnot buy local products on the farmers’ market because they’re working during it’s opening hours. We have identified the action to be taken by businesses, farmers, and the local authorities, checked the economic feasibility and ran a consumer poll among more than 400 citizens. All the facts are now collected to allow a sound decision-making for further investment.
