Sustainability for the Food and Agricultural Sector

We define sustainability and/or sustainable development as the Brundtland Commission defined it in its 1987 annual report:

"Sustainable development meets the needs of today's generation without endangering the possibilities for future generations to fulfill their own needs and choose the lifestyle they desire."
(Source: Dictionary for Sustainability from the Kathy Beys Foundation in Aachen - own title translation)

We strive to achieve this goal through pragmatic and implementable solutions.

In this regard, we view organic farming to be the most sustainable form of agriculture to date. Several important steps to attain this goal are to strengthen regional structures and to encourage the step-by-step conversion and extensification of conventional farming.
